Peace Pups Dog Training ("Peace Pups," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website peacepupsdogtraining.com (the "Site") and provides in-person and virtual dog training services in the San Diego, California area. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Site, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. It applies to visitors of the Site and to clients who book or inquire about our services online.

This Policy does not cover information collected outside the Site, such as in our paper or PDF training waivers, which are addressed separately in our Client Agreement and Liability Waiver.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly, such as when you fill out a contact form, book a session, sign up for our email list, or message us:

  • Name, email address, and phone number

  • Information about your dog (name, breed, age, behavioral history) that you share to help us prepare for training

  • Payment information when you book a paid service (see Section 3 below — we do not store full card numbers ourselves)

  • Any messages, questions, or other content you send us through forms, text, or email

Information collected automatically when you browse the Site:

  • IP address, browser type, device type, and general location (city/region level)

  • Pages visited, time spent on the Site, and referring/exit pages

  • Information collected through cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 4)

We do not knowingly collect more information than is reasonably necessary to schedule, deliver, and follow up on our training services.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to inquiries and schedule training sessions

  • Prepare for and personalize your dog's training plan

  • Process payments for booked services

  • Send appointment confirmations, reminders, and related updates by email, text, or phone

  • Send occasional newsletters or promotional updates, if you've opted in

  • Maintain our own business records and improve our services

  • Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of our clients, staff, and animals

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the following categories of third parties, and only as needed to run our business:

  • Scheduling software providers (such as Acuity Scheduling), to manage bookings and appointment reminders

  • Form and e-signature providers (such as JotForm), to collect intake forms and signed waivers

  • Communications platforms (such as OpenPhone), to send and receive client texts and calls

  • Payment processors, to securely process payments for training packages

  • Automation and workflow tools (such as Make), to connect the services above and keep client records organized

  • Website hosting and analytics providers (such as Squarespace), to host the Site and understand basic traffic patterns

  • Rescue and adoption partner organizations, only where you have asked us to coordinate with them on your behalf (for example, a rescue that referred you)

  • Legal and safety purposes, where disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or court order, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Peace Pups, our clients, or others

Each of these providers only receives the information needed to perform its specific function and is not permitted to use your information for its own unrelated purposes.

4. Cookies and Do Not Track

The Site may use cookies and similar technologies (including those built into Squarespace and any analytics tools we use) to understand how visitors use the Site and to keep certain features working properly. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may not function as well if you do.

Do Not Track: At this time, the Site does not respond differently to "Do Not Track" browser signals. We do not knowingly allow third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across other websites through the Site, beyond the service providers listed in Section 3.

5. Text Messaging (SMS) and Phone Communications

If you provide your phone number, we may send you text messages related to scheduling and your training (for example, a reply to your inquiry, appointment confirmations, and reminders).

  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.

  • You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP, or get help by replying HELP. You may also opt out by contacting us directly.

  • We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for their own marketing purposes. It is shared only with the service providers (such as our scheduling and communications platforms) that help us send these messages.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide our services, maintain business and tax records, and comply with legal obligations. Client and training records are generally kept for the duration of our working relationship plus a reasonable period afterward in case of follow-up questions, returning clients, or legal requirements.

7. Your Choices and Rights

  • Opt out of marketing emails or texts at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by replying "STOP" to texts, or by contacting us directly.

  • Review, correct, or request deletion of your information by emailing us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time and will let you know if any legal or business reason prevents us from fulfilling part of the request (for example, records we are required to retain).

  • California Shine the Light: Peace Pups does not share your personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

8. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for adults seeking dog training services and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, and rely on the security practices of our third-party service providers, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We are committed to making the Site accessible to as many people as possible, including individuals with disabilities. If you encounter any difficulty using the Site or need assistance accessing our services or information, please contact us at the email below and we will work with you to provide the information or service you need.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected by updating this page; if we make a significant change to how we handle previously collected information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
